'(Turban)ator in saffron brigade selling Jammu causes for his petty preferences’

Jammu, June 16: Terming it as a sycophancy bred by the saffron brigade to nail Jammu causes at their whims and fancies, chief minister Omar Abdullah accused the state unit of the BJP of deceiving the people of the Jammu. He said they (BJP) had always fooled and misled the people.
"Had BJP been loyal to the people of Jammu, they would not have voted against their own party nominee to get the National Conference-Congress candidates elected during the Legislative Council elections in 2011.
Abdullah's reaction came after BJP MLAs disrupted the launching ceremony of R-APDRP scheme of Power Development Department.
In his 15-minute blitzkrieg, CM Omar Abdullah described the saffron party as 'dishonest' and staging protests only for the cameras.
"BJP MLAs raise the voice of Jammu only in front of media but never bothered to take up the issues of concern in his officer chambers," said Abdullah.
Omar while accusing state BJP leaders for adopting double standards said, "Certain politicians have made it their trait and fashion to pretend to be the best friends of people while facing cameras but they never talk of any public good in the forums and Government meetings. It has been tragedy for the Jammu, that its leaders (BJP) have always exploited them".
"If we have shortcomings and we are inimical to the interests of Jammu, then why they (BJP) betrayed their own party and voted in favour of NC-Congress candidates during MLC elections in 2011, he said adding, "Drama was staged because Assembly elections are round the corner," and again if they win, they will 'cross-vote' in favour of another party in MLC and Rajya Sabha elections and ditch their own party.
Former National Conference MLC Kashmira Singh, who was present in the function, confronted the protesting MLAs, which resulted in verbal dual. He was then pacified by Omar Abdullah himself.
Furthering his assault, CM Omar Abdullah took the cudgels along while taking a straight dig at the positioning of BJP in state hitting at the disqualified MLAs seeking his refuge to remain in position of power. "In last four years the sole objective of suspended BJP MLAs was to somehow avoid disqualification which would have deprived them of MLAs powers including officials red beacon cars, government accommodation and the status", he added.
The infuriated CM also moved miles ahead to 'expose' and hit hard at the BJP.
Without naming a MLA-though he was referring to MLA Ashok Khajuria-he said: "A person by wearing Pagri (turban) only can't become custodian of the people of the Jammu. For last six years this person would come to me and Dr. Farooq Abdullah (NC President) endlessly for transfers of officials, admissions, jobs for relatives and other petty benefits."
Omar said, "Now they (BJP) members are trying to manipulate win riding the 'Modi Wave and again befool people of Jammu". They claim 'achhe din aane wale hein', then bring the good days," said Abdullah and added that the treasuries of the state government are lying empty, let them fill up the treasuries.
