Holy Shivlingam in full size at Amarnath, snow clearance on tracks goes on
6/16/2014 11:29:07 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, June 16 : Holy Shivlingam was formed in full size in the Amarnath cave shrine, situated at about 12,000 feet above sea level in south Kashmir Himalayas, as authorities are racing against time to clear both the tracks for the annual pilgrimage, starting from June 28.
Snow clearance operation was going on war footing on both the traditional Pahalgam and shortest Baltal routes to make sure that yatra commence from due date, for which registeration was going on across the country.
The Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) has reiterated that pilgrims having valid 'Yatra Permit' would be allowed to undertake the pilgrimage.
However, those travelling by air to the holy Cave will have to produce only Health Certificate at the time of boarding the helicopter.
Official sources said that Holy Shivlingam was in full size. Though the temperature has started increasing, but it would not have any immediate impact on Shivlingam, they said, adding the self made Ice-lingam will last almost entire duration of the yatra.
After the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the SASB R K Gupta expressed concern over the slow pace of work on the restoration of both the routes, additional labourers and others were deployed to clear accumulated snow. He had directed the concerned officials to engage more manpower to make sure the track is ready before the commencement of the annual pilgrimage from June 28.
Gupta during his inspection to Chandanwari, the last motorable halting station on traditional yatra route, to Sheshnag track saw snow and debris on June 14.
He later directed CEO, Pahalgam Development Authority (PDA), to ensure urgent removal of snow and debris from the tracks. Taking serious note of slow pace of work, Gupta asked the PDA to deploy additional manpower on double shift basis to compensate for the loss of time due to adverse weather conditions till Mid-May.
