Jammu, June 16: Samba police today claimed to have foiled a bid to suicide when a lady climbed up a 100 feet CCTV tower erected at Jakh in Vijaypur area today. The lady who had tried to make an abortive life bid has been identified namely as Radha Devi w/o Ravi Kumar Sharma r/o Jakh. Later her husband was contacted and she was handed over to him. The husband of the lady disclosed that mother of three children was little bit mentally upset due to poor economic conditions of the family. As per police sources, Anil Magotra, Superintendent of Police, Samba was chairing a meeting with Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Vijaypur and SHO P/S Vijaypur at Vijaypur, when he received a telephonic call to the effect that one lady had climbed over the tower near National Highway at Jakh to commit suicide. SP Samba, Magotra, acting swiftly directed S S Sambyal, DySP, SDPO Vijaypur to immediately rush to the spot for launching rescue of the said lady. Complying with the directions, the police officer rushed on spot and found that the said lady had climbed more than 100 feet over the CCTV tower installed near NHW at Jakh. However, Police team after hectic efforts succeeded in motivating the lady to come down. |
