LUCKNOW, June 16: What is common among former Union ministers Rajeev Shukla, Chandan Mitra and Manju Aggarwal apart from being Rajya Sabha members. All of them have on one occasion have forgotten their mobile phones in the RajyaSabha, while it was in session in 2013. Apart from this trio, there are six other honourable members of Parliament (of the RajyaSabha), who too have forgotten to return to their respective residences along with the accessories, which they had brought, while entering the precincts of the Parliament.
What is more surprising is the fact that there is still an unclaimed gold ring, which was found inside the RajyaSabha chamber on December 18, 2013.
According to a report made public on the official website of RajyaSabha, the Parliament Security Service from the RajyaSabha chamber has recovered 10 articles from the RajyaSabha chamber in 2013. According to the report, BJP leader ChandanMitra forgot his mobile phone in the RajyaSabha on March 6, 2013, while mobile phone of ManjuAggarwal of JD (PSSS) was found near room number 73 on December13. Former union minister Rajeev Shukla too forgot his mobile phone in the chamber of RajyaSabha chairman (December 18, 2013). The mobile phones were handed over to RajyaSabha MPs after making proper inquiries.
Apart from mobile phones, MPs also forgot to carry basic items such as spectacles, which were later handed over to them. On March 1, 2013, BJP leader PrabhatJha forgot his spectacles near his seat (number 176). Similarly, on March 20, 2013, RajyaSabha MPs Maya Singh (BJP) and AlkaBalram Kshatriya (Congress) too had forgotten their spectacles, which were later handed over to them by the concerned security staff after making basic queries.
Senior Samajwadi Party leader Darshan Singh Yadav forgot to carry his folder back to his residence on March 20, 2013, Prabha Thakur did not carry 2 CDs along with herself to her residence. Both, the MPs, however got their lost properties. Another interesting discovery, which the security personnel made, was the lost ring of Congress leader Pervez Hashmi near RajyaSabha lobby wash room. |
