BJP distances itself from Dr Hina's statement on Art 370

Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Nov 14: Kashmir unit of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) today distanced itself from the statement of its candidate from Amira Kadal constituency Dr Hina Bhat that "nobody can abrogate the Article 370" and if it happens she would "take up the gun."
Talking to Early Times the Kashmir based spokesman of the BJP Khalid Jehangir described the assertion of Hina Bhat as her "personal view" and said party has got nothing to do with it.
Jehangir said that BJP's stand on Article 370 is clear and if anyone has objection to it, he or she should quit the party.
Asked to elaborate BJP's stand, Jehangir said, "Our party leadership has always maintained that Article 370 is a big impediment in JK's development. Let us have debate over it."
A senior BJP leader said that Article 370 is only confined to Srinagar city. It's no issue in the rural areas. "Our party's stand is clear we stand for the abrogation of the Article 370 as it would pave the way for complete integration of Jammu and Kashmir with the union of India. Due to this Article state is deprived of many benefits," he added.
The BJP leader said that Dr Hina Bhat before joining the party should have studied the ideology of the BJP and the issues which the party has been raising since its inception. "It seems Dr Hina is unaware about the party principles and its ideology. She should study it first and then contest the forthcoming Assembly elections," he added.
Sources told Early Times that party high command has taken a serious note of the statement made by its candidate from Amira Kadal constituency and has asked her to explain her position.
Dr Hina while talking to a news channel had said: "I am very confident about Article 370 and nobody can snatch it from us. People should remain confident about it. The day it's revoked, I will be the first person to take up the gun,"
She had also taken a jibe at Union Minister Jitendra Singh and said, "If (he) is talking about it let him but our manifesto has not come out and let we talk about Article 370 then."
The BJP insiders said the party manifesto which would be released on 20th of this month clearly states that if BJP would come into power it would scrap the Article 370.
They said that party leaders are of the view that Kashmir based politicians of the regional parties believe that they can befool people by raising the issue of Article 370. "The fact is that Article 370, which gives special status to JK, stands eroded and the people who swear by it are the ones who have torn it into pieces. That is why these people are sacred to hold a debate over it," they added.
