After chairman of the United Jihad Council (UJC) Syed Salah-ud-Din today warned people to stay from upcoming elections and directed separatist factions to start door to door election boycott campaigning, people in general, party workers of political parties and village heads in particular were warned through threatening posters by militants to stay away from election campaigning or be ready for dire consequences. One such threatening poster of militants in possession of Early Times reads that "Do not go near political rallies otherwise you all will be responsible for yourself, Sarpanchs, Panchs and party workers in particular are warned that they should shun participating in election campaigning otherwise they will be responsible for themselves, do not tell us later we did not informed you earlier in this regard." Pertinently according to reports chairman of UJC, which is an amalgam of many militant factions, Syed Salah-ud-Din has also asked people of Kashmir to boycott upcoming Assembly polls and has directed separatist factions to actively participate in election boycott campaigning in Jammu and Kashmir. "People who will vote in the coming elections will be considered as traitors who sell the blood of martyrs," UJC spokesperson Syed Sadaqat Hussain quoted Syed as saying. Salah-ud-Din has said that elections will only undermine the 'freedom struggle' and such elections won't solve any issue in the region and added that by conducting elections in Jammu and Kashmir India is strengthening its military occupation by elections and oppressing people with the help of Army. He has also said that "Indian propaganda regarding elections can be countered only through election boycott and has warned people that 'those who will participate in elections will betray martyrs and women whose chastity was compromised by the occupying forces.'
