Double title win for young Jahanvi Pandoh Jayesh is new men's State TT champion

JAMMU, Nov 14: Finally, Jayesh Singh has conquered his opponent to emerge as new men's champion in the 36th State Table Tennis Championship held under the banner of J&K Table Tennis Association at Indoor Complex, here today.
Jayesh trounced equally good Shourya Sharma in straight but close sets of 11-06, 11-08, 11-7 in the title clash which was witnessed by a healthy gathering of present and former players and other distinguished guests.
"Jayesh made it to the finals so many times but could not make it to the title win. Finally, he has defeated his opponent to clinch the coveted state title," Jayesh's father, Narinder Singh.
An engineering student at Mahant Bachiter Singh College of Engineering and Technology, Jayesh also bagged the Youth boys title trophy after he trounced Ritvik Gupta 3-1 (11-09, 09-11, 11-08, 11-05).
The junior boys final was won by Divyam Pandoh, who beat Ritvik Gupta 3-2 (11-09, 09-11, 11-09, 08-11, 11-08).
Earlier, the women's singles title bagged by Shzar, who beat Shreya 3-1 (11-09, 09-11, 11-08, 11-07. Jahanvi Pandoh made it a double title win taking home junior girls and sub-junior girls' trophies.
In junior girls' title clash, Jahanvi Pandoh defeated Shreya 11-09, 11-08, 11-09 and in sub-junior category, she registered win against the same opponent 3-2 (11-09, 09-11, 09-11, 11-09, 11-08).
Ritvik Gupta, who lost the Junior and Youth finals to Jayesh, clinched the sub-junior boys' title beating Manandeep Singh 11-09, 11-08, 11-07. The cadet girls final won by Iknoor Kour after she beat Archita Kesar 11-09, 11-09, 09-11, 11-09. In cadet boys' single final, Anant Rohmetra beat Hanumant Sharma 3-2 (11-08, 08-11, 11-07, 07-11, 11-06).
The veteran men's singles title bagged by Mahesh Sharma, who beat Sanjay Gupta 11-09, 09-11, 11-08, 11-08.
In the men's final and valedictory function, Panning Commissioner, B R Sharma was chief guest, who gave away the title trophies amidst encouragement to those losers in the finals and preliminary rounds.
Earlier, the chief guest was welcomed by working president of the Association, Mr Magoo and general secretary, Ajay Sharma. Also present were general secretary of J&K Olympic Association, Ashutosh Sharma, Chief Sports Officer, Abdul Qayoom, Rajan Sharma, Sheetal Gandotra, I P Singh, Satvir Singh, Narinder Singh, Satish Gupta, Saleem Bandey, S P Singh, Manmeet Kour, Tulal Ahmed, Maninder Singh, Sunil Sharma and Ayub Malik.
