2nd Sant Gurbaksh Singh Danna Memorial Hockey J&K Police, GNCC enter semifinals | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 20: J&K Police and Guru Nanak Nagar Club today sailed into the semifinals of the ongoing 2nd Sant Gurbaksh Singh Danna Memorial Hockey Tournament at K K Hakhu Stadium, here. In the quarterfinals, J&K Police outplayed Zorawar Club by two goals to nil. The first half of the match remained goalless. After the drinks, Police turned offensive thus managed to build pressure on the opponent defence line. Sikander Pal Singh netted the ball for the first goal in the 32nd minute on a calculated pass from Amrinder. Second goal came through Amrinder in the 57th minute. In another match of the day, Guru Nanak Nagar Club (GNCC) trounced Young Blues Club Sujanpur 4-3 via tie breaker. Earlier in the stipulated time, the match ended in 1-1 draw. Young Blues took the first lead when Karan sounded the board in the very fifth minute. The lead was equalized by Gagan in the 27th minute. Later, in tie-breaker, Ishtiaq, Charanpreet and Koushal were successful penalty shooters from winning side of GNCC. From Young Blues, Aatish and Janam could only beat the guard at the net. Today's quarterfinals officiated by the technical penal comprising Dalbir Mehta, Charanjit Singh, Jagjit Singh, Joginder Singh and Matinderpal Singh. FIXTURE: Quarterfinals: Baba Banda Bahadur Club shall take on Eleven Star Pathankot at 1 pm while Namdhari XI shall be playing against New Gurdaspur Club at 3 pm. |
