Early Times Report
Anantnag, Nov 25: Drugs & Food Control Organization in Jammu and Kashmir is in deep slumber and pharmaceutical companies are marketing drugs on fake addresses putting the lives of innocent people at risk. During the course of investigation by Early Times it has came to fore that at least three pharma companies are marketing drugs with fake addresses in violation of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. 1996. King Laboratories Private Limited, registered on 30th May in 2013 with CIN Number U24100-JK2013PTC003895 and registration number 003895 is among the companies which is marketing drugs on fake address. The company at the time of registration had mentioned its address as Chondpora Jamia Masjid, Srinagar and is marketing drugs on address of Lakshmi Nagar Delhi, reasons best know to them. However the officials in the department claim it a big fraud. "This is really a big fraud if they are marketing drugs on fake addresses without informing the authorities." Official sources said, adding their licenses can be cancelled. Wasim Ahmad Shah, proprietor of Doers Biotech which is also marketing four drugs on four different addresses. On being contacted, he told Early Times that he has withdrawn two drugs completely while for two drugs he had acquired lone license. "Firstly we switched to another address in Himachal Pradesh and had acquired lone license for Calvidox 325 drug but now have stopped marketing, but some stock might be available in the market. Next is clavixine Injection which was being marketed from New Delhi through a corporate office which we along with four companies have acquired," He claimed. However, the officials negated the claims of Doers Biotech proprietor and said such excuses were not acceptable. However, the claim of the department stands exposed as the authorities besides collecting samples of over six pharmacompanies have not yet taken action against them. Department on its website has maintained that the quality of drugs is beyond the understanding of common man. It's the responsibility of the Department to ensure the availability of quality drugs to the public and the market is free from counterfeit, spurious and substandard drugs and no drugs are sold at a price higher than the retail price marked on the container, but these lines do not seem to have touched the conscience of the authorities. Deputy Controller Drugs, assured action. "You please note down our official email id and forward the details we will surely investigate and take action" he said. |
