Breakthrough in Anaesthesia technique at JLNM hospital 11/26/2014 11:36:25 PM Srinagar, Nov 26: A 30 year old patient underwent a Neuro-Spinal Surgery (L5S1 Micro Discectomy) which was performed under Regional Anaesthesia (Spinal Anaesthesia) at Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial Hospital (JLNM), Srinagar. According to press release, such surgeries are routinely performed under General Anaesthesia. Anaesthetists Dr Saleem Javaid and Dr Shabeer Siddiqui said that "Although series of such procedures have been done under regional anaesthesia in outside world and few centres of India, it has been for the first time in the anaesthesia history of Kashmir that this procedure was done under Regional Anaesthesia wherein patient was awake and the lower part of his body was anaesthetised. The operative team included Dr Saleem Javaid, Dr Shabeer Siddiqui (Consultant Anaesthetists) , Dr Mir Basharat (Neurosurgeon), Habibullah , Bashir Ahmad, Suraya and Bashir Ahmad.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
