Kishtwar, Feb 22: The private schools in Kishtwar district demanded extra fee and also the winter vacation fee from the 10th class students whose examination was postponed due to floods in September. The schools have withheld the roll number slips of the students.
In this regard a deputation of parents of students studying in SDM Public school Kishtwar led by Ranjeet Kumar also called upon the Chief Education Officer and raised the issue of charging of an additional fee of Rs.1000 per month from each out going students of class 10th for the month of Nov, Dec 2014 and Jan, Feb 2015 without any justified and valid reason.
While talking to Early Times, the parents of the students said that during his meeting with CEO Kishtwar, it was brought into his notice that the outgoing students of class 10th had approached the principal of the said school for issuance of the roll number slips of their wards, but the same was denied till the demand could not be meted out.
"The exams of 10th class was earlier schedule to be held in Oct/Nov 2014 but due to the floods, the examinations were postponed till March 2015 at later stage and the school authorities are now treated all the students as students of the school even after Oct 2014 and are demanding the fee" said angry parent Joginder Kumar. He said that neither their children went to school not the school administration directed the students to report back to schools after postponement of examination.
The parents demanded that the CEO Kishtwar and the administration must need to intervene and prevent the parents from robbing at the hands of these private schools, beside also demanded action against all those schools who are blackmailing the parents at the cost of the future of their innocent children. He said that the students had already suffered in their studies due to postponement of examination.
Another parent informed the Early Times that private schools not only charging the monthly fee from the students in accordance to its own will, but are also robbing the students on the name of various funds including charging of hefty amount as printing charge fee throughout the year.
The parents said that though the CEO gave patient hearing to the parents deputation and asked the parents of the students as well the students to make their presence in the school on 23.2.2014 where he will take stock of the situation of the complaint, but added that many parents feel that the school authorities will make every attempt to spoil the carrier of their children's and demanded assurance from the concern authorities that they will not allow the private schools to spoil their carrier on the name of denial of extra fee by the parents.
