Jammu, Feb 22: Removed from service for 'tampering' his date of birth in service record and surviving on the oxygen of a stay order from the Court against his termination, a blue eyed engineer in Housing and Urban Development department is now lobbying for a prize posting soon.
Sources told Early Times, in the month of August 2013 Engineer Jugal Kishore Sharma a Technical Officer to Commissioner Secretary Housing and Urban Development Department, was removed from service for tampering his date of birth.
"Jeet Lal Gupta, the then Commissioner Secretary HUDD J&K with approval from Minister concerned issued termination order of Sharma", sources alleged, adding that the tampering had been established through a legal agency. "Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) expert had proved that the date of birth was changed from 1956 to 1958 in service book and other documents related to service record", they added.
They further said that the engineer was attached to the office of Divisional Commissioner Jammu, but he managed a stay order from the court against his attachment. "Sharma was made HUDD XEn second division, in the April 2013 . He was attached to the office of Divisional Commissioner Jammu for allegedly misusing his official position for vested interest", sources said, adding that soon after his attachment he managed to get relief from the court, as his attachment was stayed.
"By April end, Sharma was transferred and posted as Technical Officer to Commissioner Secretary HUDD. During his service as technical Officer, he tampered his date of birth", they further added.
Taking cognizance of the matter, the department removed him from the service. "The official again knocked the door of court, following which court stayed his termination and directed government to maintain status-quo till further order", sources in secretariat told Early Times, wishing not to be named. "Engineer is likely to be reinstated and rewarded with prize posting, as efforts are being made to show records as damaged in last year's flood in state when some portion of civil-secretariat in the summer capital was submerged under water", they alleged.
When contacted, Commissioner Secretary HUDD J&K Satish Nehru said that the matter was sub-judice. "The court had directed the department to maintain status-quo till further order. It is difficult to make a comment until court gives its verdict", he added.
