Gulzar Peer bribed Prosecutor: Complainants
2/23/2015 12:19:27 AM
Early Times Report

Budgam, Feb 22: As the Budgam sessions court acquitted rape accused Gulzar Peer, the complainants have now said that Public Prosecutor (PP) Sessions Court Budgam was bribed by Gulzar Peer.
Four girls hailing from various areas of valley who were allegedly sexually exploited by the self styled faith healer for months together have said that they stand by their statements which they gave before the court and police.
Pertinent to mention that the Public Prosecutor (PP) Sessions CourtBudgam Nayeem Ahmad who is looking after Gulzar Peer's case was caught red handed by Vigilance Organisation (VO) officials while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 (1st installment) from a man whose father's murder case was pending before the same court.
The local print media as well as TV channels like CNN IBN had made this issue public and filed detailed stories as well . As per authentic reports with Early Times the poor complainant Riyaz Ahmad from Beerwah Budgam had to sell gold ornaments of his wife just to arrange one lakhrupees which was being demanded by the PP for filing the challan under 302 RPC before the court of District & Sessions Judge Budgam.
The PP who happens to be a close relative of former NC Minister Sakina Itoohad managed to get bail within a few days from Police Station Shaheed Gunj Srinagar where he was detained by Vigilance officials after catching him red handed near Hyderpora during a trap case. The PP later-on and resumed his duties once again as if nothing had happened.
The State Law department didn't bother even to relieve this corrupt official from performing his official duties as a Public Prosecutor, and this clearly indicates how the politics overpowers the process of law. "This is not only a single incident of its kind, but there are dozens of such incidents where the corrupt people are being shielded and patronaged by the politicians and corrupt officers.
Incidents like these demoralizes honest, dedicated and upright officers of the Vigilance Organsation which makes our anti corruption institutions lame and toothless," said RTI Activist and anticorruptioncrusader Dr Mushtaq Khan who had helped Vigilance to nab the corrupt PP Budgam sessions court.
This is worth mentioning that the rape accused Gulzar Peer from Shamshabad Khanshib in central Kashmir's Budgam distric was arrested by police in May 2013 after a complaint was filed by some girls before the local police. The said peer was acquitted by a local court in Budgam on February 12 and this triggered severe resentment from Kashmir's civil society.
