Demands implementation of Forest Dwellers Act

Jammu, Mar 23: Gujjars and Bakerwals staged protest demonstration and demanded implementation of Forest Dwellers Act in the Jammu and Kashmir State.
They assembled outside the press club under the banner of Gujjar Bakerwal Desh Youth Body, under the President Chudhary Nazakat Khatana shouted slogans and highlighted their grievances and demands. Addressing the gathering, President Ch. Khatana criticized the attitude of the State Govt who is not fair to mitigate the problem which is being faced by the people concerned.
In this context, he submitted in the public gathering that The Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006 has been passed throughout the country except J&K state and the same has been enforced on date as passed by the Central Government in May 22 Notification in the official Gazette. Through this Act, the Central Government shall provide for diversion of Forest land for the facilities incorporated in the Act for the overall development and welfare of the people concerned. He appealed and requested worthy Chief Minister of J&K state Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to implement the same Act on Central pattern in J&K State by way of issuance of ordinance under being handy for the overall development and welfare of the people concerned so that the masses can be relieved from unnecessary harassment as they are also part and parcel of the Jammu & Kashmir state under the main stream Central Govt. of India. Many other person belonging to the different parts of the country are getting facilities and benefits and the process will continue until it will be treated as inequality which is not justified under the frame work and spirit of the Indian constitution. In the protest demonstration various others who participated include Abdul Ghani, Ch. Hashim Din, Ch. Junaid, Sajad Ahmed, Mohd Latif, Babu Pojwala, Ch. Fayaz.
