Jammu, Mar 23: Finally there is good news for thousands of aspirants for Kashmir Administrative Services (KAS), as the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has announced the date of preliminary examination of KAS, after postponing it twice, and now it will be held on April 5. On, March 15, Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed led cabinet had cleared the names of members and chairman of JKPSC, which has been running headless for the last many months and only after a week, JKPSC has issued a notification announcing dates for preliminary examination. According to the notification, PSC/Exam/KAS(Pre)/2014 , which read as "The Preliminary Examination shall be held on 5/ 4/2015 (Sunday) in two sessions i.e. General Studies (Paper-I) from 10.00AM to 12.00 Noon and Optional Subject (Paper-II) from 02.00PM to 04.00PM". The announcement of dates has given a respite to thousands of aspirants, who have been waiting eagerly for the exams, which were earlier posted twice due to varied reasons. Earlier, the preliminary examination was postponed due to devastating floods and later, JKPSC had announced to conduct exams on March 1, but due to some unknown reasons, the exam was once again postponed at the eleventh hour. Sources in JKPSC revealed that the Mains examination of KAS will be likely to held after two months of preliminary examination, adding, "We have decided to give at least two months to applicants to prepare for Mains examination", an official pleading anonymity said. Some of the applicants have shown strong resentment against the JKPSC authorities, claiming that the exams for various higher courses in prestigious universities are also in April on May month. "It is very difficult to prepare for two exams as the exams of M.Phill for JNU is scheduled to be held in May, so where I concentrate, it is really difficult now as I have to leave one option", a student of MA, Rakesh Sharma, from Jammu University said. |
