Once deputed, 2 BJP ministers opted for alternative Information Officers.... | Of ministers' whims, fancies..... | | ET Report Jammu, Mar 23: In what can be seen as whims of ministers still working in the echelons of power, two senior most cabinet ministers of BJP are alleged to have outrightly rejected deputing of officials as Information officers with them in the Secretariat for personal liking or disliking and instead asked for alternative choices to be attached with their respective ministries to cover day to day functioning. Sources said two senior cabinet ministers recently asked for replacing the officials who were in normal course deputed with their ministries. One of the ministers ironically has been ardent supporter of the community to which the officer belonged. Yet he allegedly rejected him, who is a senior officer from Information Department to be kept with him. This officer is said to be of the rank of Assistant Director, sources said adding he was sent back and another one deputed in his place. While there was no valid reason or rhyme for getting the said officer replaced, it all apparently the personal compatability which became reason for minister's instant repulsion. While this negative attitude towards a particular section has raised eyebrows within the department, it has also invited resentment in the social media towards the ministers and their party, which has otherwise been vociferous about equality with all. Sources also said this cause for rejection has been partly because a section of senior officials from other backgrounds within the Secretariat have been instigating the ministers against keeping officers from a particular background and trying to convince with absurd reasons to instead go for other officers as their Information officers. While all that is attributed partly to professional one up manship, questions are being asked within the party as well as to wisdom of the cabinet ministers. |
