On Sunday inhabitants of of Kotranka held a mass protest and criticized the CAPD officials and raised slogans against them for not making full proof arrangements for the smooth supply of ration to the poor people as per its schedule.
"Flood victims as well as poor people in the area mostly depend on ration being provided through ration cards due to their financial restrains. In the absence of ration at fair price shops these poor people facing many difficulties in purchasing ration at higher prices in the open market" said Noor Mohd , Mushtaq and other protesters.
Sukhpal Singh , SDM , Kotranka said that soon he will take up the matter with the concerned (CAPD) officials and assure to make the availability of ration on regular basis at fair price shops.
Mumtaz Ahmed , Assistant Director (AD) CA&PD when contacted said that the people have been provided Sugar and Rice for the month of February and about 180000 quintal Atta is pending and soon be lifted from Jammu.
"Supply of ration for the month of March is still pending as the same has not been released by the Directorate Office and the matter has already been taken up with the higher authorities" said Mumtaz Ahmed.
After the assurance from SDM people withdrew their protest but said that if the ration was not provided to them soon, they will again held a protest demonstration and will block the Rajouri-Budhal road.
Almost on every day inhabitants of the district have been holding protest demonstrations at various places alleging that the CAPD officials have failed to provide ration to ration card holders even for the month of February. Recently a deputation of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) lead by Bharat Bhusan Vaid , district president met with Mumtaz Ahmed, Assistant Director (AD) CAPD in his office and apprised him about the problems being faced by the poor people in the absence of cheap.
