Jammu, Mar 23 : Dr. Parshant Bakshi, Associate Professor, Division of Fruit Science, SKUAST-Jammu has received first prize for his oral paper presentation in a two day National Seminar organized by Directorate of Extension, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) in collaboration with the Department of Floriculture, Jammu. According to press release, Jammu and Kashmir Government on "Technology and Management of Micro-irrigation in Floriculture" at Main Campus, Chatha from 19th-20th of March, 2015 wherein more than 114 participants including senior professors, scientists, academicians, scholars and students from all over the country participated. The paper entitled "Scenario and future prospects of micro-irrigation in India" was presented by Dr.Bakshi. He discussed in the house that there is a dire need to adopt improved and efficient irrigation practices. Efficient and viable management strategies should be developed to enhance water application efficiencies, water productivity and its availability over a larger area for irrigation. Micro-irrigation systems till now are the best and most efficient irrigation techniques that have efficiencies of more than 90-95 percent coupled with increased water productivity, improved quality of produce, reduced runoff and leaching of nutrients and chemicals to water bodies. |
