Kohli directs for shifting of idle buses to ISBT to ease congestion

JAMMU, Mar 23: Minister of State for Transport, Rural Development and Horticulture, Abdul Ghani Kohli has directed the transport authorities for early shifting of idle buses from the General Bus Stand B. C. Road Jammu to InterState Bus Terminal Narwal and Bus Stand Khanpur Nagrota so as to ease the traffic congestion on B. C. Road.
These directions were given by Minister during a meeting with the officers of Transport & allied Department.
Threadbare discussions were held on various vital issues for streamlining the traffic near Bus Stand B.C. Road Jammu.
The Minister while taking stock of traffic congestion near B.C. Raod, asked Secretary Transport to make a comprehensive plan for early shifting of idle busesfrom General Bus Stand Jammu. He impressed upon the transport authorities to maintain close coordination with other concerned departments mainly Jammu Development Authority for early modernization of Bus Stands at Khanpur Nagrota and at Narwal by developing basic amenities at these places.
The Minister also reviewed various other issues pertaining to streamlining the functioning of the department and providing better facilities to the people.
Kohli also reviewed progress on various infrastructure projects, installation of GPS system, Digilization of old records, position of Las and registrations, position of online issuance of learner licences and payment of fees, filling of vacancies in the department, etc.
Commissioner Secretary Transport Department Baseer Khan, Transport Commissioner Dilshada Khan, MD SRTC J. S. Tandon, RTO Jammu Ashwani Khajuria, General Manager SRTC R.S.Jamwal, Deputy Director State Motor Garage Zakir Choudhary, other senior officers attended the meeting . Members of Tour & Travel Association Bus stand headed by President Ashutosh and representatives of various other associations were also present in the meeting.
