Early Times Report

Jammu, June 27: Laws are meant to be broken, it's truly applicable as far as high profile and influential persons of the Jammu Province are concerned, who have encroached road land of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI)'s near Channi Himmat . These persons flout the government norms with impunity and also law enforcing agencies does not bother to take action against them.
Sources informed Early Times that there is glaring example which is sufficient to prove the point, Car showrooms, Workshops and Hotel and others vehemently involved in encroachment of road's land by illegally constructed slope or increased their workshop space by constructing building near JP World School at Channi Himmat and encroachment going unabated.
"Residents of the areas had complaint to the NHAI along Jammu Municipality Corporation (JMC) many times but officials of JMC and NHAI ignored the complaints over the issue for reason being the showrooms are owned by the influential persons and turned deaf ears toward the entire matter, "they added.
Interestingly, the state government and its departments always claimed that laws are equal to everyone whether one is a common man or the politician. But it seems that the departments have adopted double yardsticks and helping them to encroach the land as powerful nexus between politicians as well as government departments.
Sources alleged that who constructs building near the National Highway from Sainik Colony to Narwal, encroach road land with the help of some officials of enforcing agencies. The JMC and NHAI are fully aware of all but no legal action has been taken so far against the criminal offence.
Moreover, NHAI officials claimed the notices have been served to the some encroachers four month ago but failed to serve 2nd notices to them reason known to everyone.
Chief Enforcement Officer of JMC, Satish Khajuria said that he will look matter first and then take action.
When contacted to Project Director of NHAI, Jammu, RP Singh, was not available for his comments on the issue.
