Avinash Azad ET Report Jammu, June 27: It seems that some 'influential' professors have monopolized affairs of university of Jammu, as printing orders for study materials from private printers are being placed on recommendations of course, coordinators rather than inviting tenders, as per governments' norms. Sources informed Early Times that instead of inviting tenders/bids from printers, printing orders worth lacs are being placed, abusing norms, which is taking huge toll on varsity's exchequer. Documents possessed by ET show how on recommendation of course coordinator, orders for printing Agriculture Economics-1 were placed. "As recommended by the course coordinator Prof Jasbir Singh, Deputy Registrar Publication (DDE) is kindly requested to allot it to Rohini Printers, as the second semester is commencing shortly and PCPs are due, to avoid delay as advised by the Director, kindly get the signature of the members of publication committee at the earliest", an official's communiqué dated January 15, 2015, under singed, Prof Jasvir Singh read. They further said that it is not a isolation of case of such kind, most of the orders to printing study materials at DDE, are being placed on the recommendations' of concerned course coordinator. Source said that Directorate of Distance Education, University of Jammu has turned heaven for those, who have their connections in top administration of varsity. "Apart, rest from regular classes/ lecturers have to deliver other professor on regular basis, the influential professors are getting un-due benefits by placing purchasing/ printing orders without inviting tenders", sources alleged, adding that few among these professors are also holding more than one post, disregarding chancellor's advise to bring one man, one post culture. Director, DDE Prof VD Singh, however did not respond to ET calls. |
