| For BJP all will be dross & drab if Sushma, Raje, Munde & Irani lose power | | | ET Report
Jammu, June 27: The BJP leadership continues to lend support to Sushma Swaraj, Smriti Irani, Vasundhara Raje and Pankaja Munde, all ministers, because it believes in women empowerment.
While Sushma and Raje are being blamed for having assisted the controversial Lalit Modi in securing valid travel documents for flying to Lisbon where his wife is being treated for cancer,Irani is accused of having filed contradictory statement on her academic qualification.Is it a sin if Sushma and Raje assisted an Indian to be by the side of his wife who is critically ill ? If it is not so why these two women are subjected to Congress criticism?
Smriti Irani has in one affidavit stated that she has completed her B.A. Part one from Delhi University(cofrrespondence course),in another affidavit she has said that she has completed B.Com Part I from Delhi University (School of open learning).This is the charge. Why did she make contradictory statement ?
Possibly the mistake is so small that it does not call for her resignation or for her sack.No where she has claimed that she has completed her graduation.And if in one affidavit she says she has completed B.A.Part I and in subsequent two affidavits she says she has complete B.Com Part I it is pardonable because she was neither applying for a post of company secretary nor for the post of an accountant.
Pankaja Munde is accused of having cleared purchases worth Rs.206 crores on a single day instead of inviting tenders.She wanted to clear the programme which could help Child Development services.The Congress has not charged her with swindling money hence the roar against her is politically motivated.
Well the BJP leadership has come to believe that all will be dross if Sushma loses power. The party leadership believes that all will be drab if Raje loses power.All will be murky if Smriti loses power.All will be dull if Munde loses power.
If the four women lose power it would be a setback to the BJP's commitment on empowering women.If Sushma and Irani lose power their faces can "burn the topless towers of New Delhi." If Raje loses power her face has the potential of burning the "topless towers of Jaipur." And if Munde is asked to quit her innocent face may burn the "topless towers" of Mumbai.
Does it mean that the BJP has no other woman with a pretty face who can replace Irani,Sushma or Raje or Munde ? Yes,there are many women in the BJP who can help the party in fulfilling its pledge to empower women.If it is so why should the BJP continue to support those four women ministers whom the Congress treats as tainted? Yes,the BJP initially left it to the RSS to take the deecision on the fate and future of these four women.Later the RSS,that supported Raje and Sushma,left it to the BJP to take the final decision.
The BJP does not want these women ministers to resign because that would bolster the Congress nerves.That is why the union Home Minister,Rajnath Singh, to say that "our ministers do not have to resign.This not the Congress Government.This is NDA Government.
As long as the Congress and the BJP exchange barbs and vituperatives Lalit Modi may play his role in adding fuel to fire.The latest comment from him has put the Congress on the mat when he said that he had met Priyanka Gandhi Wadra and Robert Wadra in a restaurant outside India.And the Congress leaders were quick to react by saying that a chance meeting cannot be equal to letters of recommendations for facilitating Lalit Modi to secure valid travle documents.It seems that the Lalitgate had opened political floodgates in India. |
