Weather pleasant as mercury remains below normal in Kashmir

Srinagar, June 27: Weather was pleasant in Kashmir valley where the mercury remained below normal as dry weather is predicted during the next 24 hours before fresh isolated rains from Monday.
After recording below normal maximum and minimum temperature during the past 24 hours, sun came out this morning though winds also continued in the valley.
A Met department spokesman said here this afternoon weather will remain dry today and tomorrow though the mercury would remain below normal.
However, he said there is possibility of scattered and isolated rains in Jammu and Kashmir from Monday till July Ist.
He said though there was improvement in the minimum temperature but it was still below normal in the valley, where world famous ski resort of Gulmarg continued to record lowest temperature.
He said against yesterday's 4.4 degree minimum temperature, it was 6.4 degrees, about five notches below normal.
Pahalgam recorded 8.5 minimum temperature, 1.5 degrees below normal though it was up by a notch against yesterday's when it was 7.6 degrees.
Qazigund, gateway of Kashmir recorded 10.9 degrees, Kokernag 11.7 degrees and Kupwara 11.8 degrees minimum temperature four to five degrees below normal.
Srinagar, where strike affected life today, recorded 13.9 degrees minimum temperature, more than 3 degrees below normal. However, it was up by a notch against yesterday.
He said the maximum temperature yesterday in the city was 26.4 degrees, five notches below normal.
The sky would be partly cloudy and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 26 degrees and 16 degrees respectively, again below normal in the city during the next 24 hours.
Leh witnessed surge in the temperature as against 9.7 degrees minimum temperature recorded yesterday it was 12 degrees while at Kargil it was 7.2 degrees against 9.2 degrees recorded yesterday.
The sky would be mainly clear and the maximum and minimum temperature would be around 25 degrees and 11 degrees respectively tomorrow at Leh.
At Jammu the sky would be partly cloudy and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 38 degrees and 28 degrees respectively during the next 24 hours.
