Minister orders eviction of encroachers from GMCH Land
Reviews arrangements for Shri Amarnath Yatra

JAMMU, June 29 : Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI and Trainings today ordered eviction of encroachers from the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) land near Resham Garh Colony. The Minister, during a visit to the site, directed the authorities to ask the encroachers to vacate the land voluntarily, or be ready to face stern action. Secretary Health and Medical Education Dr. Mandeep K Bhandari, District Development Commissioner Simrandeep Singh, Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation Soujanya Sharma, Principal GMC Dr. Ghanshyam Dev Gupta, Incharge SSP Rajiv Pandey and Administrator GMC Babila Rakhwal accompanied the Minister. During the visit to Resham Colony behind Girls Hostel, the Minister found that some of the residents of the area have encroached around 4 kanals of GMC land and constructed concrete houses over it. He asked the District Development Commissioner to demarcate the land as per revenue records and take stern action against the land grabbers. He also asked SSP Jammu to extend full cooperation to the JMC, GMC and Revenue authorities for eviction of encroachers.
Later, the Minister also visited Shri Amarnath Yatri Niwas at Bhagwati Nagar and reviewed the arrangements made by the administration for comfortable stay of pilgrims. He instructed all the line departments to work in tandem to ensure that the visiting Amarnath Yatris get all basic facilities. He also asked the PHE Department to make available drinking water facilities in sufficient quantity at Yatri Niwas. He directed them to install water supply posts from Canal head to Yatri Niwas for the convenience of the Yatris. The Minister asked for regular market inspections to keep a check on overcharging by traders, transporters, besides quality of food and eatables at hotels, restaurants and roadside vendors. He issued instructions to the Power Development Department (PDD) to gear up men and machinery for providing regular power supply at Yatri Niwas. The Minister stressed for adequate arrangements for medicare facilities, sanitation at Yatri Niwas. He informed that this year, Government has set up medical aid centers within 10 KMs distance from Lakhanpur to Cave Shrine with sufficient stocks of medicines. Later, the Minister also inspected arrangements at Lakhanpur ahead of the arrival of first batch of Pilgrims to the state tomorrow. The Minister also inspected the Langar, medicare, water and sanitation facilities at Lakhanpur. He is also scheduled to receive the first batch of pilgrims tomorrow at Lakhanpur- the first station of Jammu and Kashmir State.
