Candle light march on Wednesday: ACC
7/27/2015 11:34:18 PM
Early Times Report

jAMMU, July 27: BJP is pushing the people of Jammu region to the wall and forcing them to take to streets to get their demand for the establishment of the sanctioned AIIMS in Jammu fulfilled, said Chairman of the AIIMS Coordination Committee (ACC) and president of the JKHBA, Jammu, Abhinav Sharma while addressing a large gathering of civil society members here today.
The ACC would organize a massive candle light protest march on July 29 (Saturday), which would start from Ambphalla Chowk, Near Central Jail, at 7 pm, he also said while urging all sections of society to participate in the proposed rally so that a right message goes to those who have been harming the interests of people of Jammu region to keep their Kashmiri masters in good humour.
The ACC reposed full faith in the BJP ministers when they on June 18 reassured us through a written commitment that they would get necessary orders on the establishment of AIIMS in Jammu passed. We withdrew the bandh call and also suspended the chain hunger strike hoping they would do the needful latest by July 20, but the BJP left the people of Jammu region disappointed.
It breached our trust as well as people trust and forced us to resume the suspended agitation, Abhinav Sharma said, adding that the ongoing movement in Jammu region for the establishment of AIIMS is becoming more and more popular with each passing day.
Abhinav Sharma further said the youth of Jammu are joining the movement in large number and added that the ACC has also planned to involve University and College students and School children in the movement. Several student leaders today approached the ACC leadership and offered their unqualified support to the movement, he said, adding that today the ACC leadership also flagged off a biker's rally, which passed through various streets of Jammu and culminated at the University of Jammu.
A large number of youth took part in the rally, he said. He cautioned the coalition government not to test the patience of the oppressed, suppressed and discriminated against people of Jammu region. Addressing the friends and well-wishers of Jammu region, senior Advocate and former Bar president Bhupinder Singh Slathia rejected as a cunning ploy the statement of Education Minister and spokesperson of J&K Government Naeem Akhtar that the PDP also endorsed the demand in Jammu for AIIMS.
People want a definite order on the issue of AIIMS and not statements which are politically motivated and designed to weaken the ongoing movement in Jammu. If the ruling coalition sincerely wishes that things in Jammu remained normal, it has no option left but to implement the written commitment in letter and spirit before July 30 so that the ACC and people of Jammu regions did not enforce their three-day-long bandh call from July 31.
