| Militants attack exposes Govt's claim on security, policy paralysis on terrorism | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 27: The militants attack in Dina Nagar Police Station and a bus in Punjab's Gurdaspur district early this morning has exposed the claims of the Government on security. The Dinanagar attack is fourth since last year in the border belt from Samba in J&K to Amritsar in Punjab. Last year three strikes were made by militants in Samba, and Kathua districts of Jammu region and this time again the terrorists succeeded in entering India territory for suicidal attack in Jammu region but mistakenly took towards Punjab and made the Dina Nagar Police Station their target.
Though clear information regarding death toll will come by late hours but the Pakistan and terrorist organizations have succeeded in keeping pot boiling and draw the world attention towards the Kashmir issue. Though terrorists this time faltered in choosing Gurdaspur district of Punjab as their target but they succeeded in conveying their message about their so called game plan which they (terrorists and Pakistan) call a mission.
The greatest failure on part of the Indian security agencies despite the fact that the country has been grappling with terrorism problem for over last 40 years now from North East to Punjab and then in J&K, the Government over the years has failed to devise a concrete policy of tackling terrorism. The blame can't go to a single party as all political parties including Congress, BJP, Leftist and JD etc who remained in power at Centre during this period failed to ponder over the issue and devise a policy to check the cross border terrorism.
The increasing Fidayeen attacks is a big jolt to security agencies and the Union Government should ponder over the issue seriously by taking the defense experts all over the country into confidence to devise such a mechanism in the border belt which can chase the terrorists sneaking inside the Indian territory to finish. In case the present Union Government led by Narendra Modi too pursue the same policies pursued by its predecessor Congress then people will also lack faith in it and BJP will also forefeet its claim of accusing Congress of its failure in containing terrorism in the country.
The defense experts in the country feel that for containing the infiltration from across the border the Government besides the security agencies like BSF and others involve the local people of border villages in guarding the borders by constituting the VDCs in entire border belt.
This besides providing employment to border youth will also help in maintaining a constant vigil in border area as the VDCs being locals can easily detect the movement of the people and being the inhabitants of that particular area they can also determine whether he is the local person or a non local.
The border people who are most sufferers of firing and shelling from across as well as terrorists attacks will devote themselves to finish the intruders whosoever dares to sneak into Indian territory and thereby relive the people of the death and destruction created due to the militants strikes from across. |
