Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 22 : Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, who is scheduled to visit the state on August 23 on a 2-day visit, would hold meetings with senior civil and army officers, besides reviewing the prevailing security situation in the state, especially after the spurt in militant activities in J&K. "He will visit J&K on his 2-day tour from August 23 to Ladakh region of the state," defence sources said. He would arrive at Leh on Sunday and would leave for Delhi on Monday, the sources added. Parrikar, who would be accompanied by Army Chief, General Dalbir Singh Suhag, would hold a high-level meeting of top commanders of Jammu and Kashmir to review the security situation, cross border infiltration and border security setup, sources said. He was also scheduled to address troops at Leh. He would be received by General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Northern Command, Lt Gen D S Hooda during the visit. |
