After banning internet on Eid, Govt to launch e-Assembly project

Srinagar, Sept 29: Two days after banning the internet for three days, the government unveiled its plans to start e-assembly project for hassle free information flow.
The project, it is believed will be made much easier from the forthcoming session beginning October 3. "We are going to launch e-Assembly project from this session. We may not execute it by hundred percent in next session but at least we will try to cooperate as much as we can," Speaker Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta, said in a Press Advisory Committee Meet held at Assembly complex today.
Gupta who was flanked by Secretary M Ramzan and Director General Information Zaffar Ahmad Bhat said that besides launching e-Assembly Project, traditional way of information sharing through print material would also follow for the full information of the proceedings.
"Under this e-Assembly project all the information about the house proceedings will be available on the official website so that journalists do not miss anything to cover," Secretary Assembly M Ramzan said on the sidelines of the Press Advisory Committee Meet.
Meanwhile, speaker said that electronic media would not be allowed for live telecast of the house proceedings.
"At times there are some incidents and happenings in the house which are not appropriate to be telecasted live. Let's keep those incidents confined to Assembly only. So there will be no permission for live telecast, but journalists can do deferred telecast," he said.
Seeking cooperation from media, Gupta told that journalists should cover and highlight the issues of public interest which will be raised by the legislators in the House in proper way.
The speaker also assured hassle- free media entrance to the Assembly along with their vehicles. "Media is an important and has great role to play. Gupta said that though it is a short session, every political party will be given due time to raise issues of public interest. The meeting was attended by Secretary Assembly M Ramzan, Head of Regional News Unit (RNU), DDK, Srinagar, Shafeeq Ahmed, Head of Regional News Unit (RNU) of Radio Kashmir Srinagar, Mushtaq Ahmed Tantray and representatives from various print and electronic media organizations besides other senior officers of Assembly Secretariat.
