Sunderbani, Sept 29: The measures to cleanse the state government of land encroachers is not picking up in the right earnest as the encroachers operate at will.
Many illegal traders are still in the business enjoying different political, bureaucratic and influential patronages holding the forest land encroached with no action initiated against them.
Four villages Nallah, Nohoti, Makol and Barnada in the tehsil Sunderbani are the most affected areas where more than 3000 kanals of forest land have been encroached by the mafia enjoying patronage of politicians.
Many reminders of this illegal business being going on were sent to the concerned forest officer and at various quarters, but no action was taken. However, when the Early Times had reported an information about 400 kanals land encroached in the area, on which a prompt action was taken.
The Forest Minister Bali Bhagat had also expressed his serious concern over such illegal activity and had sought details of the areas under the illegal occupation of the land grabbers.
But besides such riders, the ground reality in tehsil Sunderbani is that the Block officer Puran Singh singles out be a man in clandestine deals with the mafia who is alleged to be misguiding the higher officials in this account and letting the encroachers make hay.
In this regard when Early Times approached Divisional Forest Officer A D Singh with a query as to how and why such illegal encroachments are taking place , he also presented a moon's face saying that he is not in knowledge of such activity and will 'verify' the things .
" I do not know what is the actual position, but first we have to verify and identify the people behind there encroachment," gave a bland reply
It is learnt that some local guards of the villages and the areas under the illegal occupation of encroachers in connivance with Puran Singh are doing the damage while providing fake reports to their officers, who in turn , in order to satiate the ministerial enquires are preparing the counterfeit documents to be presented to the minister as the people of the area allege that these officers are under the heavy influence of the mafia that has tied their hands .
Meanwhile when the chief forest officer Roshan Jaggi was taken into the loop with a grievance on the land encroachment, he took a strong cognizance of the offence.
"You send me the details of all land under encroached by the culprits so that I can send the same information to my officers for the follow up," said Roshan Jaggi while talking to Early Times.
He also assured that any of the forest official found involved in the misdeed would be taken to task and FIR would be lodged against him.
