Jammu, Sept 29: In a drive against smuggling of forest produce in District Doda, Thathri police seized 100 kgs of forest produce with the arrest of two persons during a Naka checking at Naka near Thathtri bridge on late Monday evening. Police have identified the accused namely as Mushtaq Ahmed Malik s/o Bashir Ahmed Malik r/o Chilly Gandoh and Shabir Ahmed Malik (driver) s/o Habibullah Malik r/o Bonjwa. Police said that the catch was made by the police party headed by Inspr Vinay Parihar, SHO P/S Thathri under the supervision of Addl. SP/SDPO Bhaderwah. "On specific information, laid a special Naka near Thathtri bridge and intercepted a vehicle TATA Sumo bearing regd no: JK17-2047 on its way from Gandoh towards Doda -Jammu, police said. "During checking of vehicle, 100 Kg forest produce (a banned herb) packed in seven gunny bags was recovered, which was being transported by the accused, police said. Meantime a case under FIR No: 72/2015 u/s 379 RPC, 06/15/16 Forest Act stands registered at P/S Thathri against the accused persons and further investigation is in this regard. Pertinent to mention here that the general public has raised such type of issues in different Police Public meetings organized by District Police Doda and the public at large was assured that Doda Police is trying its best to curb this menace from the society. |
