Early Times Report

Kishtwar Sept 29: The 24 year old Kishtwar youth who was charged by a his live in relationship partner, a Haryana based girl, of rape surrendered before Kishtwar and Haryana police on Tuesday. He was produced in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Kishtwar. The CJM granted three day transit remand in favour of the Haryana police for shifting the accused from Kishtwar to Haryana where they (Haryana) Police would produce him in a local court. As per the details available with "Early Times" Rahul Baghat, 24, of Begana Kishtwar surrendered before the police and denied the allegations of rape. After the accused surrendered a party of Haryana police arrived at Kishtwar immediately and produced him in the court of CJM Kishtwar and sought his transit remand which was granted by the court. In another application moved by the Haryana police, CJM Kishtwar directed Kishtwar police to provide full security cover to Haryana police for shifting the accused from Kishtwar to Haryana after large number of people including family members and the friends of the accused assembled outside the local police station. It is pertinent to mention that the complainant lodged a complaint with Haryana police on August 12, 2015 wherein the complainant alleged that the accused Rahul committed repeated rapes on her during last several months at his private rented accommodation in Haryana where accused was pursuing his engineering degree from a local college, added that the accused promised her that he would marry her, but later abandoned and betrayed her.
Acting on the complaint, Haryana police registered a FIR against the accused U/S 376, 506 IPC and started its investigation. The complainant put forth the demand of marriage with accused as pre condition for withdrawing case in the court which was agreed by the family members of the accused, but Haryana police refused to accept any agreement with the condition that the final disposal will be decided by the court wherein the case is presently under trial. Meanwhile, the friends of the accused informed the "Early Times" that the complainant was living with the accused in "live in" relationship since 2013. They added both used to pretend as husband and wife. "The complaint lodged by the complainant against the accused is false and fabricated," they claimed.
