M S Nazki Early Times Report Mendhar, Sept 29: MLA, Langate, Er Rashid yesterday addressed a gathering at the Mendhar Bus Stand here and said "we don't obey the J&K High Court ban on beef because the state has Muslim majority population". While he was forcibly sent back to Kashmir for his attempts to vitiate peace and communal atmosphere in Mendhar town, he claimed that his party belonged to no religion. He also talked of brotherhood despite the fact that he had attempted to inflame public passion in Kashmir by asking them to defy the high court order on the cow slaughter and the beef sale in J&K. Even as the people listened to him, there were a very few takers of his ideology. He also visited Balakote but his attempts to go to Poonch were foiled by police. The cops later forcibly pushed him back to the valley after it was felt that his presence in the town was vitiating peace and communal atmosphere. As mark of protest against his visit, minority community members, including Bajrang Dal president Sonu Sharma, Hunman Mandir Committee president Devinder Kumar Tandon and Sanatan Dharam Committee member Preveen Kumar Shani gathered at Hanuman Mandir here and resolved to support to the bandh call. They also appealed to the Poonch district administration to lodge FIR against Rashid for trying to disturbance peace at Mendhar. They also submitted a memorandum in this regard to SDM, Mendhar, and urged that such leaders be not allowed to enter the district in future. |
