Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 29: Sainik Colony won the opening match of the Senior Division Football League Tournament of Jammu District, organised by Jammu and Kashmir Football Association at GGM Science College ground, here today. In the inaugural tie, Sainik Colony trounced Vijay Club by a solitary goal to strengthen their position in group-A. Ishan Verma scored the all important goal in the 47th minute of the match. Rakesh Kumar, Rinku Gill, Suresh Gupta and Moon Stephen were officials in today's match. Earlier, the competition was declared open by Superintendent of Police (SP) City, S K Chouhan, who interacted with the teams and other guests present. Prominent among others present were Sheikh Mehmood, SM Gill, David Masih, Ramesh Chander, Mohinder Verma, Varinder Gupta, Charan Dass, Harbans Lal and Krishan Lal. Divided into two groups, 12 senior teams of District Football Association (DFA) Jammu are participating in this League. Group-A: Sainik Colony, Jammu United, Mussa Club, Vijay Club, Jammu Sports, Young Hero's. Group-B: Chruchill Brothers, NGR Club, Young Rovers, Young Sports, Engineering XI and Param Football Club. FIXTURE: Young Rovers shall take on NGR at 2.30 pm while Mussa Club has been pitted against Jammu Sports at 3.30 pm tomorrow. |
