Three bovine smuggling bids foiled, 62 animals rescued | | | Early Times Report Banihal, Sept 29: Police today foiled three bovine smuggling bids in District on Jammu Srinagar national highway and rescued 62 bovine animals. Police sources said that in a major crackdown against the bovine smugglers, special nakas were established on NHW 44 at Batote, Chanderkot and Ramban. "Police teams led by SHO Batote Inspector Arun Kotwal, SHO Police Station Chanderkot Inspector Manzoor Ahmed Kohli and SHO Police Station Ramban Inspector Ajay Singh Chib under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Ramban Mohd Rafiq Choudhary, Addl. SP Ramban Arun Gupta and direction of SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar, established special Nakas at Baggu nallah, Batote, Main Bazar, Chanderkot and Shan Palace Ramban, police sources said. They said that during search of vehicles at Baggu Nallah one Tata Mobile (9570-JK14D) was stopped for checking. "During checking, the said vehicle was found loaded with 04 bovines being illegally transported to Valley, police said adding, "the driver of the vehicle namely Mohd Rafi S/o Ab Rehman R/o Bharat Nagar, Udhampur was arrested on the spot for failing to produce required documents to transport animals from one district to another and a case FIR No. 97/2015 u/s 188 RPC, 3 PCA stands registered at PS Batote. In a similar incident police team at Naka Point Chanderkot, intercepted one Truck (JK02AF-1487) was stopped for checking. "Sensing him in trouble, the driver of the truck escaped from the spot, he said, adding, "during checking of truck, 17 bovines were found loaded for being illegally transported to valley. "A case under FIR No. 55/2015 u/s 188 RPC / 3 PCA has been registered at PS Chanderkot, police said. At Shan Palace, two trucks bearing regd Nos. JK14B- 6355 and JK14B- 6555 were signaled to stop. "On seeing police party, the drivers of both trucks accelerated their vehicles and tried to escape from the Naka, police said and added that Police party chased them and get them stopped. "During checking of both the trucks, 41 bovines in total were found loaded in a cruel manner, police said and added, "accordingly, a case FIR No. 101/2015 u/s 188 RPC, 3PCA Act has been registered at PS Ramban. |
