SRINAGAR, Sept 29 : Though separatists and anti national elements working at the behest of neighboring Pakistan have made the life hell in Kashmir with their negative politics for last 26 years, a ray of hope has emerged in trouble torn Valley where a newly created political outfit has given call for cherishing the values of secularism and socialism. The newly launched Peoples Republican Party (PRP) which is yet in infancy taking a leaf from the leading socialist and secular leaders of the globe have given a clarion call to people asking them to work for betterment of mankind, preserving of secular and socialist values for which thousands of people laid down their lives during the freedom movement of India. The PRP is the first political outfit in Valley which observed 107th birth anniversary of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh in Kashmir yesterday and recalled his services for the overall cause of humanity. Recalling the role of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and other freedom fighters who laid down their lives to free India from imperialist forces, PRP chief spokesperson Mir Ghulam Rasool said it is unfortunate that the leaders of country after the freedom of India from Britishers have forgotten the principles for which the freedom fighters fought throughout their life. He said it is the time for introspection for all political parties to see whether India has attained the goal for whichthe freedom fighters laid down their lives. ``Have we succeeded in overcoming hunger, poverty, illiteracy, diseases, etc facing the nation'', he added. Mir said the caste, class and communal conflicts are on rise in India which are eating the vitals of the society. The political parties talk about freedom fighters by showing a lip service to them but in real sense they have failed to highlight the basic issues for which they laid down their lives. He said corruption is on rise in the country and politicians, bureaucrats and big business houses are mainly involved in it. The best tribute to Bhagat Singh and freedom fighters will be if we can concentrate on these problems and work for the betterment of oppressed and suppressed people. Stressing on education of Muslims,he said 14 percent of India's population comprises of Muslims and Government should take steps for their education and welfare. So that they can contribute for the nation building in a more better way. Mir said the greatest fight of the country men whether in Kashmir or any other part of country is against poverty, illiteracy, communalism, casteism, nepotism, corruption, hunger, human sufferings and diseases. |
