Farooq visits Mehbooba's residence, condoles demise of Mufti | | | Jehangir Rashid
Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Jan 22: National Conference President and former chief minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah dropped in at the residence of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti and condoled the death of her father and former chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed who passed away on January 7 after a brief illness. Reports said that National Conference President was accompanied by party general secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar and Tanvir Sadiq, political advisor to the working President of National Conference, Omar Abdullah during his visit to the residence of Muftis better known as Fairview located on the Gupkar Road. Since Dr. Abdullah was in Dubai at the time of passing away of the former chief minister he visited the residence of Muftis today and conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved family. He sat for some time at the residence of PDP President and talked to Gulshan Ara, wife of Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and other family members. The National Conference President conveyed his heartfelt condolences to Mehbooba Mufti and Mufti's son Mufti Tasaduq on this occasion. He told the bereaved family that every Kashmiri is with them in this hour of grief and sorrow. He also offered prayers for the peace of the departed soul and spent almost half an hour with the bereaved family. Emerging out after the meeting, Dr. Abdullah said that there was nothing political in the meeting and it was purely a social one. He said since he was not in the town at the time of passing away of Mufti he thought it better to visit the bereaved family. He said that he conveyed his condolences to the Mufti family and there was no talk on any other issue with the Mufti family. It would be in place to mention here that National Conference President along with the working President have been issuing statements on regular basis over the delay in the formation of new government in the state. Both Dr. Abdullah and Omar have been saying that PDP and BJP are bound to form the government in the state since they were in coalition before the passing away of Mufti Sayeed. The National Conference President created a flutter last week when he said that his party would think of forming the government in the state in case the BJP approaches them in this regard. However, his statement was countered by his son and the working President of the party who said that there is no question of forming the government in the state. Dr. Abdullah has also been saying that PDP President should realize the dream of her father and form the next government in the state without any further delay. Jammu & Kashmir is presently under a spell of Governor Rule. The Governor Rule was imposed after the demise of former chief minister and also due to the reason that no political party staked the claim for forming the next government. PDP President refused to take over the mantle of chief minister and the suspense over the new government continues in the state. |
