JAMMU, Jan 22: Notwithstanding the fact that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been stressing need for e-governance, the websites of various departments mock at it. Most of the departments have still not updated their respective websites. While the State is under Governor's rule, some departments are shown headed by Ministers.
"The website of Chief Minister's monitoring cell has Mufti Sayeed as the Chief Minister," said a social activist Ranjeet Singh.
He further said that the Chief Minister's Monitoring cell website is not an isolated case but most of the State Government departments have failed to update their official websites for the past several months, which creates confusion among the internet users.
The official website of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution department has not been updated Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali continue to be the Minister of said department.
The department of Public Health Engineering Irrigation and Flood Control website in "Who's Who" column shows Sukhnandan Kumar as the Minister for PHE/I&FC Department and Ab. Majid Padder show as the MoS for PHE/I&FC Department.
The website of the Director, Tourism is nothing more than beautiful pictures on the website. Even the names and mobile numbers of the officials are not available on the website.
Moreover, the Public Works Department (Roads and Buildings) has not updated the names and contact numbers of its officials on its website.
He further said that a cursory look at various official websites gives a clear picture of the lackadaisical implementation of much-boasted e-governance program in Jammu and Kashmir.
He alleged that State Government has utilized lakhs of funds to update their status of work but many departments had failed to update their official websites.
When contacted Commissioner/ Secretary to Government Information Technology Department Hirdesh Kumar Singh didn't pick up the phone for comments.
