Security forces on alert, conducting search, destroy operations in forward areas | | | Early Times Report rajouri, Jan 22: The intelligence agencies including state as well as central, police, paramilitary forces and army have been conducting search and destroy operations in forwards locations and along Jammu -Poonch highway to foil any attempt by the anti-national forces to disturb the Republic Day celebrations. High places sources said, "Security agencies under a joint mechanism have erected Special nakas on Jammu-Poonch highway and also on peripheral roads leading to Line of Control (LoC) in twin border district viz. the Rajouri and the Poonch. According to unconfirmed reports a small group of terrorists have managed to sneak from Mendhar sector recently and the security grid has been enhanced to foil nefarious designs of the miscreants. Here it needs to mention that following the enhanced security measures and search operations the security forces have recovered 4 IEDs (improvised Explosive Device) and defused on the spot after intensive searches were conducted in some areas of Mendhar tehsil of Poonch recently Pertinently searches have been conducted in atleast 100 spots in Mendhar tehsil in Poonch district while areas viz. Pir Pathari, Salwa, Pathanatir, Darana, Sarooti, Gursai etc have been sensitized by security forces including police, SOG teams and Army. While talking to reporters in recent past at Rajouri, AK Attri, DIG Rajouri-Poonch has stated that activities of all the anti social elements, Over Ground Workers (OGWs) and surrendered militants are under the surveillance and security forces and police are well equipped and ready to foil any such attempt. "Every input is being responded actively and the security forces are conducting searches and the process will continue in the future also" said senior police officer. Worth to mention that hectic searches were also conducted in recent past after two suspected armed persons were spotted in Mendhar tehsil yet these turned futile. As the R-Day is approaching near, the Rajouri police , teams of Special Operation Group , CRPF personnel and Army have been keeping close watch on all the entry points of Rajouri town and also frisking of vehicles. |
