Crackdown against bootleggers in Kathua, Rajouri, 5 held, 1000 Ltrs Lahan destroyed | | | Jammu, Jan 22: In order to curb the menace of illicit distillation of liquor, illegal smuggling of liquor from other States, the J&K Excise Department has intensified raids at various locations in Kathua and Rajouri districts and arrested five bootleggers in Rajouri and destroyed approximately 1000 ltrs (750lts in Kathua and 250 ltrs in Rajouri) here today. The arrested bootlegger have been identified as Sanjay Kumar s/o Prem Das of Sasalkote, Paramjit Kour w/o Lt Janail Singh of Chakli Bagal, Gurnam Kour w/o Gurbachan Singh of Chakli Bagla, Gandhaab Singh s/o Chur Singh of Seri and Joginder Nath s/o Ram Lal of Seri. According to official spokesperson, under the active supervision of Excise Commissioner, J&K T Angchuk and Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu Shahid Saleem, simultaneous raids were conducted in district Kathua and Rajouri to put a curb on menace of illicit distillation. He said, "Raids in Kathua district were conducted in Kakyal and Lower Budhi areas and in the process more than 750 kilo grams of Lahan has been recovered and destroyed." "The Excise sleuths under the command of ETO, Kathua Sandeep Gupta carried out these the raids, he added. "Yet in similar initiative raids were conducted in Chakli Bagla, Seri, Sasalkote, Mohra, Jawahar Nagar, Dhanma, Dhani Dhar, Dalhori, Bal, Chingus, Agrati and Nowshera of Rajouri district, he said adding, "above said five accused were arrested under section 48 of the J&K Excise Act during these raids," the spokesperson said. "The excise team headed by ETO Rajouri Sheraz Ahmed also recovered 250 ltrs of Lahan and 30 liters of illicit liquor which was destroyed on spot., he added. |
