Anti Encroachment Drive: One injured, Govt vehicle damaged in stone pelting by encroachers | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 1: One helper of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) got injured and a government vehicle was damaged when a group of encroachers resorted to heavy stone pelting at the team of Jammu and Kashmir Forest Department in Sunjuwan area on city outskirts of this winter capital of the state which cleared two illegal structures on forest land. Divisional Forest Officer Jammu said, "The Jammu Forest Division has carried out anti encroachment drive at Sunjwan where two concrete structures were dismantled with the help of JCB in Compartment No.5/C Khasra No. 371 Bahu Game Reserve in the presence of Duty Magistrate Dr Owais Ahmed, IAS, Tehsildar Bahu, Chandan Kohli, IPS, Sub Divisional Police Officer Jammu East. The Forest team comprising around 40 staffs headed by Jyotsana, Assistant Conservator of Forests under the supervision of Dr V S Senthil Kumar, Divisional Forest Officer Jammu launched the demolition operation. ''The encroachers and their supporters heavily pelted stones at the team wherein one of the helpers of Jammu Municipal Corporation got injured while pursuing the duty,'' an official here said, adding that Anti Encroachment vehicle (Tata Mobile) of Jammu Forest Division Jammu got damaged by the stone pelters during the operation. Official said, "The encroachers who have constructed concrete structures on forest land have been identified as Showkat Ali s/o Allah Rakha, Haider Ali s/o Allah Rakha, Ishtiaq Ahmed Shafu s/o Manzoor Ahmed Shaffu of Bhaderwah at present Gujjer Nagar Jammu "Around four kanals of Forest Land have been saved," official said while adding that it was a massive operation successfully done amidst intensive stone pelting. Official further added after Forest Deptt's request to police to register an FIR against the encroachers/stone pelters the police accordingly registered case under FIR 21/2016 against Showkat Ali S/o Allah Rakha at Police Station Trikuta Nagar.
