Illegal promotions go unabated in Forest deptt

Jammu, Apr 21: Reshuffle in portfolio had severally affected working style of Ch Lal Singh, as a 'tiger' now-a-days confines himself to check registers at forest check posts only, despite huge timber smuggling and illegal promotions in forest department.
It is learnt that disappointed over portfolio reshuffle, Singh had protested before the party high command. "Since the day, Lal Singh assumed charge of Minister for Forest and Ecology, he got town-down", said a BJP leader seeking not be named.
He further said crazy to be in headlines, Lal Singh, now-a-days preferring to spend his time in home town.
"The Minister has spent, last week in Kathua district", said the leader, adding that anti encroachment that had begun during the tenure of late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has fizzle out after his death.
"Department had vacated hundreds of Kanals of forest land, from the clutches of land mafia and the drive was continue till January 2016", he said, and added that during Governor's rule in state, the drive has gone on back-foot. "I was being expected that after formation of new state government, several major issues highlighted by media, may be mend", they said, and added that paradoxically, since the day Lal Singh took over as Forest Minister, doing nothing to clean unabated malpractice.
"A layman, knows that huge smuggling of timbers, tree felling going unabated in the department, but the Minister busy to click photo while inspecting registers at forest check posts", he said, and added that recently media had exposed mass promotions of Foresters and Rangers on basis of 'fake' and unauthorized degree, but unfortunately, the department remained un-moved.
"Surprise visit to check Forest Guard is not only job of the minister, he should come up either the plans to increase green cover in state that is reducing with each passing day", he said, and hoped that Minister would look into the problem which a global concern by acting proactively.
