Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 21: Government Gandhi Nagar Hospital, Jammu has become asylum for the politically affluent employees of the health department, most of them kith and kin of politicians and bureaucrats, as out of one hundred and fifty staff members, thirty are those, who allegedly are enjoying undue privileges here.
"These influential staff members are mocking at the system owing to their political connections", said sources. Among these thirty blue eyed employees, BJP MLA's wife occupies prominent place as she has been attached with a section whereby she allegedly works only for two days a week. " Not only she, there are twenty four other assistant surgeons in the hospital who are attached with different sections, leaving barely ten who are working round the clock in casualty room", sources maintained.
The height of nepotism and political interference can be gauged from the fact that bypassing the senior most doctors who are at the verge of retirement a junior most doctor namely Dheen Mohd has been posted as Resident Medical Officer Doctor (RMO), leaving the deserving fumigated.
Further, many influential doctors and staffers have refused to mark their attendance through the Biometric Attendance Machines (E9), which needs to be probed thoroughly.
Furthermore, the hospital has surplus staff as the said hospital has always remained the choicest place of posting for most. Going by the number, the hospital has two sanctioned post of dentists, however, against the available posts, seven doctors have been posted. Against two post, there are five surgeon posted over here and against three gynecologists, seven B grade doctors have been posted.
Meanwhile, one of the officers in the hospital administration when contacted, pleading anonymity said that the matter is already in the notice of Director Health, adding, two Biometric Attendance Machines have been installed in the hospital and efforts are on to press the staff members to use the machine on routine basis.
