Early Times Report
Jammu, May 29: Alleging puzzling stand of J&K State government on reservation in promotions, the members of reserved categories urged CM Mehbooba Mufti to immediately bring political solution to issue of reservation in promotions to address the aspirations of Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Resident of Backward Area (RBA), Actual Line of Control (ALC) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) Categories. A meeting joined by All J&K Mahasha Sadar Sabha, Shri Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, Kabir Sabha, Bhagat Mahasabha, Backward Classes Union, Prajapati Sabha, Retired employees forums, Bhim Rao Ambedkar Education Foundation, Bhim Rao Ambedkar Education Society and social activists from all the Reserved Categories, many Panches & Sarpanches, in a meeting organised by Jammu Kashmir Reserve Categories Employees (JKRCEA) at Guru Ravi Dass Gurudwara, Bahu Fort, Jammu. During meeting, Dr. Sanjay Bhasin, President of JKRCEA said that the people of reserve categories have lots of hope from power corridor but lackadaisical approach of State Government in dealing with the issue of reservation in promotion witnessed for past six months has become a cause of worry for these classes. He also said that if the present coalition claims to carry along the aspiration of each region and section of society of J&K State, then they should come up with practical solution rather staging false promises. He also said that the people of reserved categories have been very closely observing not only the public representatives in govt. but also those in opposition and all were clearly appraised about this issue thus in case the reservation in promotions shall not be restored in the ongoing assembly session, these sections will be left with no other option than to launch mass agitation throughout the State. Dr. Zabeer Ahmed, general secretary of JKRCEA while speaking on the occasion said that with the formation of new Coalition Government, the reserved classes pinned lots of hopes for overall development and welfare of reserved categories of J&K State. The stand of govt. to not to contest in favour of its own law which is in consonance with Article 370, 35-A of Indian Constitution and Article 6 of J&K Constitution, shows an element of anti-reservation in policies of govt. which is against the interests of reserved categories. Among others who spoke on the occasion were Joginder Paul, Raj Kumar, Ved Prakash, Bodh Raj Bhagat, Dr. Bias Dev, Brij Rana, Mohd Taj, Pawan Bhagat, Surjeet Singh Raina, Darshan Kalsotra, Shah Mohd and Manoj Kumar. |
