Excise Deptt conducts raids, two bootleggers including woman held | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 26: In order to curb the menace of Illicit Distillation of liquor, illegal smuggling of liquor from other states, Excise sleuths from JK Excise Department under intensified raids/checking in this regard have apprehended two person including a woman and also destroyed around 700 kgs of material used to distill illicit liquor besides 12 bottles of illicit liquor during different raids conducted today. According to official spokesperson, the excise sleuths under the overall supervision of Excise Commissioner, J&K T Angchuk and Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive) Jammu Nagendra Singh Jam wal conducted the raids. "Excise teams led by ETO Excise Range South Aloeem Moughal and ETO Eradication Wing Jammu Suresh Sharma conducted a series of raids In Bishnah -R S Pura area including villages viz. Deoli, Makhanpur, Saiehar, Sikanderpur, Dablehar, Kotli-Charkan, Hasachak , Tarachak, Sheikhupora and Shibbuchak to put a check upon menace of illicit distillation, he said. "During the course of raids, the Excise sleuths nabbed two persons namely as Mangal Dass s/o Sardari Lal village Kotli-Charkan and Bina Devi w/o Rashpal of Sheikhopora were arrested, he said, adding, " the duo was booked under Section 43 of Excise Act." He said during these raids excise teams sleazed over 700 Kgs of martial used for distilling illicit liquor, besides 12 bottles of Illicit liquor which were destroyed on the spot. Pertinent to mention here that the Excise Department have launched a massive campaign against illicit distillation of liquor and the teams have destroyed 4000 Kg of material for extracting lahan (illicit liquor) was destroyed till date against 1340 Kgs of during the corresponding period of previous financial year. |
