Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 26: A police officer, who is posted as SHO of a police station in a headquarter area here, is alleged to have received a gift of two shops worth lakhs from property dealers for helping them to grab and dispose of disputed lands. Instead of taking bribe money for helping them to grab disputed lands, he took shops and forthwith got them registered in the names of his trusted acquaintances, police sources alleged, saying this was the first property which he had purchased in his area. Sources said the SHO had been managing his stay in Jammu district for the past few years. The posting in the headquarter area was third in a row as SHO in Jammu. In the area, where he is serving now, the land business is at its peak. The SHO was alleged to have helped the property dealers in one way or the other in the past few months. The two property dealers, who had gifted him the shops, were also alleged to have made lakhs with the SHO's help as without police help it was not possible for them to grab and sell the disputed lands. Over one dozen disputed land deals had so far taken place in the area with the help of SHO who was also alleged to have developed relations with some state government officers to seek their help. The proceeds thus collected were being shared by the SHO with the 'senior' officers, sources alleged. "He has also been spotted enjoying night parties with the land grabbers in certain city hotels," sources alleged.
