PHC Bedar lies under defunct conditions, authorities in slumber

Mandi, Aug 26: The Primary Health Centre (PHC) Bedar of Poonch district which was constructed with an aim to provide better health care at the door step of the people of remote areas ironically lying non-functional due to lack of staff and facilities.
According to the report PHC Bedar yet has single bed only while the meager inadequate staff always remains absent from its duties adding miseries to the poor people who look towards this health centre for treatment to their ailments.
Annoyed over poor facilities, the locals alleged that the health department has totally failed to provide necessities to the common masses.
A local resident Iqbal Ahmed said, "We have approached to Deputy Commissioner Poonch Muhammad Harun Malik in this regard and he later directed to Chief Medical Officer Poonch for further necessary action.
He lamented CMO yet has to take action in this regard reasons better known to the concerned official. Another local Ghulam Qadar has urged to Deputy Commissioner Poonch and higher authorities to do the need of public full in this regard as people of area are suffering a lot in absence of due medical facilities.
"Poor people come to this health centre from far flung Dhoks for treatment but surprisingly the doctors posted there always remain absent from duty, he added.
One Nazir Ahmed the hospital building and ambulance both are lying non functional and are lying as burden on government exchequer.
Locals added that they also have approached MLA Poonch in this regard but it also went in vain.
Agitated locals have warned if their demands are not fulfilled at earliest, they will be forced to come on roads to get justice.
When contacted, Director Health Jammu Dr Baljeet Singh Pathania assured that the action will be taken against those found guilty in failing to provide basic facilities including beds to patients at this PHC. He also said the shortage of staff will be solved as soon as possible.
