Communal harmony need of the hour: Sham Lal

Akhnoor, Sept 18: Flaying state, central governments for current unrest in Valley, former Minister and Vice President JKPCC Sham Lal Sharma today said that communal harmony is need of the four.
Addressing meeting of ST community was held at Akhnoor, which was attended by MLA Aijaz Khan, MLA Ch.Akram and Chairman ST department JKPCC. Sharma highlighted the need of maintaining communal harmony in the state. He said that volatile situation in the valley has taken an ugly turn due to it's mishandling both by state and central Govt. He expressed his anguish over the prevailing situation and asked the state govt. to take immediate steps to normalize the situation in the valley as common people are badly affected.
Sham further said that the present govt is just for name sake because it has completely failed in all fronts. "The BJP ministers in the govt have no affiliation to the people of state and having lust for power", he added.
He lambasted the BJP-PDP government for providing comfort zone to the separatists which had further emboldened the mischievous elements to trigger communal tension. He said that the wrong policy of the government had encouraged the fringe elements to move scot free to disrupt the peace and tranquility of the State. Sham further exhorted to the people of the state to maintain communal harmony in the best interest of the state.
Speaking on the occasion Aijaz Khan MLA said that there are certain forces and factors in the State vitiating atmosphere of peace by communalizing the situation. He appealed the people to remain vigilant and defeat the designs of unscrupulous and disgruntled elements hell bent upon to harm the Communal harmony and age old tradition of unity and brotherhood in the State. He also appealed to the saner elements in the society about the need to redouble their efforts to channelize the forces of secularism and togetherness to play their role. They said that Congress party is a unifying force to strengthen the bonds of unity, integrity and brotherhood and to defeat the evil designs of those forces who want to divide and polarize the society and disturb harmony.
Describing Congress Party as the representative of people in true sense, Ch Mohd Akram MLA and Chairman ST department said that Congress Party being the only unifying force in the country would continue to fight against the forces harming secular fabric of the State. "It won't allow anyone to play with the emotions of people to benefit their vested interests," he said.
Ch Akram Expressed serious concern over the growing situation in several part of Jammu region in the wake of prolonged unrest in the Valley, the leaders have felt the need to remain vigilant about the designs of communal, anti-national and anti-social elements against disturbing peace and religion harmony in the region. Vice Chairman ST department JKPCC expressed vote of thanks at the conclusion of the meeting. He also thanked all the participants for making the meeting a success.
