Traffic jam on Banihal-Ramban causing sufferings to nomads, commuters

Banihal, Oct 5: The traffic jam on Banihal-Ramban stretch of Jammu Srinagar highway is a routine matter now from past more than two months which effected badly the continuous traffic movement on highway.
The bad condition of road, seasonal migration of nomads and close of Jawahar tunnel tubes in night hours are the main cause of Jamming on highway claimed drivers and passengers who travel on this highway. The Journey of minutes are covered into hours, local students, employees and other passengers are in trouble nowadays who travels on this highway and they can't reach in time on their schools, colleges and offices.
Maximum Nomads whose seasonal migration from Kashmir and Peerpanjal ranges towards winter capital is on ,they are in search of alternate routes instead of highway to reach their destinations.
Many nomad families with their live stocks are chosen alternate routes where it is possible to go forward. However many of them are traveling through highway which became the main cause of traffic Jamming on NHW.
After the recent unrest in Kashmir the government authorities has decided to close the Jawahar tunnel on night hours which effected the regular movement of traffic on highway. Hundreds of trucks and passengers vehicles who reached late in Banihal ,Ramban and Qazigund were stopped for night and were allowed to go ahead after 6am when the tunnel were opened for the traffic movement.
This huge rush of traffic and movement of nomads become also one of the causes of Jamming. This traffic mesh became the headache for the passengers as well as traffic police and police for regulating the traffic movement smoothly on highway.
A member of nomad family while talking to Early Times in Banihal said that they have no alternate route to move ahead however he said that they are trying to take alternate routes on highway where it is possible to move forward. He said that they are also feeling difficulties during traveling on highway with their live stocks.
