Pak shelling triggers migration from Nowshera, Kalai Mora

Rajouri, Oct 5: More than one thousand people from Kalsian , Makri forward villages in Nowshera tehsil and Kalai Mora have been evacuated to temporary camps by the district administration within last 36 hours.
Shabir Ahmed Bhat, Deputy Commissioner along with Mohammad Fareed Mir, SSP ,Commandant JKAP (presently officiating SSP) along with a team of district officers today visited Nonial village and interacted with the evacuees put in the temporary accommodation in the high school.
"Keeping in view the ongoing heavy shelling in the civilian areas by the Pakistan army, district administration has decided to shift more than 800 people from Kalsian , Makri and other adjoining hamlets" said the Deputy Commissioner.
Harbans Lal , SDM, Nowshera first briefed the Deputy Commissioner and SSP about the arrangements made in Nowshera sub division for the people of border villages in case of any war like situation on the border.
Deputy Commissioner also visited temporary camps made at middle school at Bowli and higher secondary school at Nowshera and said, "We are fully prepared to face any eventuality."
Pertinently in Nowshera sub division , administration has identified 27 villages situated near or on the LoC from where 6674 families consisting of 25607 souls have been identified for evacuation in case of any misadventure on the Line of Control.
Deputy Commissioner has also instructed the camp officers to be remain at the camps and ensure availability of ration, electricity, drinking water, security and sanitation.
"Full proof security will be provided at every migrant camp besides 24X7 medical help. I have met the migrants from Kalsian village and as per their report no injury to any civilian has been reported yet" said Deputy Commissioner.
"The terror has gripped the entire Kalsian villages and its adjoining areas when Pakistan army resorted to heavy shelling after 7 pm on Tuesday. People were ready to migrate and administration had provided the transport but people were asked to remain inside their houses to avoid and fatality during evacuation under heavy shelling" said Pritam Lal of village Kalsian.
He added a mortar shell that hit the area near our house had damaged the window glasses and we were worried about the safety of the family and other villagers.
Meanwhile, at the time of filing this report heavy shelling was started in Balakot and other areas in Mendhar tehsil in Poonch district and army was retaliate with equal caliber.
"People are worried about their safety after heavy shelling started at about 5 pm today. In the month of August last year 6 people in our area including sarpanch lost their lives in heavy shelling from across the border" said Imtiaz Ahmed resident of Balakot.
