How JU's committees have become toothless 10/18/2016 11:36:59 PM ET Report JAMMU, Oct 18: Making mockery of the committees set up from time to time to probe irregularities, the Vice-Chancellor of Jammu University has crossed all limits of official propriety and decorum to misuse his official position. For example, an advertisement was issued by the university in February 2013 vide No; Adm/C&R/13/76-125 Dated 21-2-2013 for appointment of various positions in the administration without mentioning age bar or Permanent Resident Certificate. Another advertisement was issued in September 2015 vide university No: Estab/NTW/C&R/ 15/149-200 Dated 1-9-2015 for the same category of positions in the administration which, inter-alia, included age bar and application of PRCs for the applicants. A screening committee formed to scrutinize the applications pointed out the variation between the two advertisements. "The screening committee accordingly submitted its findings to the university administration bracketing the variation between the two advertisements. It was told that when the file was submitted to the Vice Chancellor, he allegedly did not take into consideration the findings of the said committee which were spurned by the VC office", sources said. They further said that disbanding the earlier committee, another committee was constituted at the instance of the VC under the chairmanship of Prof Desh Bandu Gupta which incorporated the word PRC necessary for appointment as per advertisement notice of September 2015. As per the document available with Early Times, it reveals that the resolution called for adoption of the recommendations of the committee which include applicability of PRC up to the post of Deputy Registrar. It was alleged that the amendments have been made to make way for few favourite candidates or otherwise candidates without PRC would have marred the chances of blue-eyed in which the university authority is allegedly interested to oblige them for unknown reasons. Flaying the VC, sources alleged that academic side of the university is already moving towards deterioration and now the efforts are being made by him to make dent in the appointments of administrative positions up to the level of Deputy Registrars in the university.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
